Time Investment

"Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is." - Ephesians 5: 16,17.

God creates time, time in itself is good. However the days can be evil because first of all, they goes by quickly. No one can refrain time from slipping by, and no one can redeem, or buy back yesterday even with the greatest. However when Paul said to redeem the time, he meant to make good use of it, so that the time spent is well invested. The only way to spend time worthily is to spend it by knowing "what the will of God is."

The other reason that the days are evil is because we live in an evil world and our flesh is also evil. We are swept away by the current of sin easily and do not always seek "what the will of God is."

Satan places so many "fun" things around us, which please our flesh so much, that we do not really have time to prepare to meet God in our eternity. Non-believers have no time to ask solemn and fundamental questions about their life, to question about the emptiness inside them. No time to contemplate on the meaning of their existence, no time to appreciate the amazing creation they are in, no time to be concerned about the destiny of their souls.

No time for these at all, men allow their lives filled with events, programs, sports, recreations, plans, possessions and become the perfect preys of Satan. Mankind lives in their evil flesh in this evil world, and when they die, they go to hell, and Satan will join them there. All the days the unsaved have are vain and evil. The only hope of this world is Jesus, and John 14:6 says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Many Christians are not less guilty in spending their days without knowing the will of God. Christians can waste their precious time in surfing some useless websites, reading filthy books, listening to the temporal music, laying under the sun, or allowing the care of this world and deceitfulness of richness to overcome them. They do not redeem their time wisely by drawing close to their Master, by studying and praying to find out what the will of their Master is.
