I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal saviour and was baptized in 1980 in Hong Kong. In 1987 I immigrated into Canada with my wife Ivy and our two daughters, because of work we moved to a small town in the interior of BC, with plans to move to a bigger city at a later date. We rented a house which belonged to an elder in a Baptist church and he was amazed that his new tenants were also Baptists. We were in his church the next Sunday and later became members of the Beaver valley Baptist Church. I and my family have been greatly blessed by God through this church, its teachings, standard and fellowship. God guided me through dilemmas to show me that His principles stand and will stand forever, and his love towards mankind are immutable. He diligently challenged me with the issue of biblical separation, he showed me his most wise balance between his Mercifulness and his Justice, his expectation to men and also his specific blueprint for me. He has saved each of us for an individual purpose and we are to seek his will and fulfill it.
Ever since I got saved he has been showing me the tremendous gospel need in China: a nation with more than one billion people, and most of them are living heathen and extremely materialistic lives. Some may want to know our true God, but are unable to find him, and some are drawn away by the false religions. People in China are marching down on a broadway to a hell, where the fire never extinguishes and the worms never die .
Recently God called me into this writing ministry. I am not much of a writer but I do enjoy writing because it helps my thinking and understanding. With some heart searching and some counselling from my pastor, I gladly accept this call. In fact God has lined up many good things for me, he has prepared people's willing hearts to take part. I also have many good inputs, and having this magazine published into the bilingual format is one of them. Many of our second generation have been brought up in North America, they will need the English version. Also I do pray by using the bilingual printing we can reach all the people that God wants us to reach.
I also pray that God would use this booklet to call His 7000 single-minded men at this age, in Romans 11:4 it says, "I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knees to the image of Baal". Let God challenge us to purify our heart and separate from the uncleanness of this world to follow him.
The foundation of this magazine "7000 MEN" is based on The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father,and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world". There are two kinds of "teachings" here: "teach all nations" is the teaching of the gospel, "teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" is the teaching of the obedience to God and things pertaining to life after salvation. Christian are commanded to spread the gospel to the whole world in whatever format, and the teaching of obedience to God is to be done through the channel of local New Testament church. In the Bible, God does use literatures to build up his servants(2 Timothy 4:13), as this is supported in the Scripture then I can judge this method and my call as divine.
This magazine will strive to publish "all the counsel of God"(Acts 20:27) and the application of the balanced view point from the Bible into our daily walk with Christ. This is one of the ministries of Beaver Valley Baptist Church, the church is located in the Village of Montrose, a beautiful place in the interior of B.C. This magazine is purposed to please God, we shall also strive to present the messages with "the meekness and gentleness of Christ "(2 Corinthians 10:1), but without losing sight of defending and speaking up for our Lord Jesus Christ. ¡¼
We need you to read it, to ponder upon it, to keep it in your heart and to live it out in your life. May you have the same conviction as we do, share it with your brothers in Christ, and the people around you.
This magazine will be published quarterly. Write to us for more copies if there is such a need- this magazine is free, although some love offering to show your support will be deeply appreciated, however it is not obligatory.
